NITROX Diver Courses
About the Nitrox course ingeneral
What does Nitrox mean and how to use it. This dive course teach you how to use Nitrox gas mixes on your dives.
In order to easily understand what Nitrox is, it's best to start with air. As beginner divers learn, the tanks contain compressed air (the same air you and I are constantly breathing in and out)..
Air consists of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen, with 1% other gases that we don't account for in diving due to their small quantity. So, we essentially count this 1% as part of the nitrogen, making nitrogen's proportion 79% and oxygen's 21%, which we take into consideration with the same ratio.
In a Nitrox mixture, these proportions change. Specifically, the oxygen proportion is increased. How much this proportion is in the given mixture can vary, depending on what is most suitable for our diving goal.
In both SDI and TDI Nitrox, the maximum oxygen proportion can be 40%.
But then, why are there two different courses if in both cases we dive with gas mixtures containing more than 21% oxygen and no more than 40%? You might ask. Well, since not every diver needs the depth of Nitrox knowledge that the TDI level offers, the SDI Nitrox course was designed for those divers. It’s equivalent to the entry-level Nitrox courses in other educational systems.
The TDI Nitrox level is a good choice for those who want to deepen their knowledge, have a deeper interest in the subject, or are interested in technical diving. Of course, the SDI Nitrox course covers the essential knowledge needed for the safe use of Nitrox gas mixtures, but the TDI Nitrox offers a more comprehensive and detailed understanding for divers.
SDI Nitrox course
The Nitrox course is a theoretical course, so based on the standards, no dives are required. However, it is still recommended that divers try at least one dive in real conditions during a diving day to experience what Nitrox is like, although in terms of feeling, there is no significant difference compared to air.
SDI Nitrox Course: Who It's Best Suited For
For every diver who wants to expand their knowledge. For those who wish to enjoy longer dives (no-deco limits with extended Nitrox). In the SDI Nitrox course, we learn everything necessary to dive safely with tanks filled with Nitrox.
Main topics of the SDI Nitrox course:
Day of Practice:
A diving day includes two dives with tanks filled with Nitrox. Before diving, the tanks will be analyzed and labeled.SDI Nitrox exam:
Only a theoretical exam is required. For the SDI Nitrox course, it is a multiple-choice test.Requirements for enrolling in the SDI Nitrox course:

TDI Nitrox course
Just like the SDI Nitrox course, this course is also theoretical. Naturally, everything that the diver learns at the SDI level is covered here as well, but in more depth and detail. Additionally, topics will arise that lead toward technical diving.
Who is the TDI Nitrox Course Designed For
MFor every diver who wants to expand their knowledge. For those who wish to enjoy longer dives (no-deco limits with extended Nitrox). If you are interested in the theoretical background of Nitrox dives or want to become a technical diver, this course could be the first step on that journey.
Main topics of the TDI Nitrox course
Practical Day:
A diving day includes two dives with tanks filled with Nitrox. Before diving, the tanks will be analyzed and labeled.Nitrox Exam:
